Christmas Eve Box – Family Traditions

Christmas Eve Box

So Halloween & Fireworks night is done & dusted for another year. All our thoughts now turn to Christmas! Or if you love Christmas as I do its now safe to talk about without everyone telling you it's too early ;)

One of the traditions we have with our girls is the opening of a present on Christmas eve which is always new Christmas Pj's & a new movie or a book. These are the only presents under the tree from Mummy & Daddy before Christmas day & they always know whats going to be inside but they love it all the same.

Over the past couple of years it's becoming a popular tradition but one that has been tweaked (as all traditions are) & evolved into the 'Christmas Eve Box'. I love that old traditions stay & get a modern twist added to them & although I personally will stick with my old way, I know plenty will be looking for Christmas Box ideas this year so I thought I'd help you out!

I have researched both personalised boxes from small independent companies & making your own from scratch. You will also find ideas here of what to put in your christmas eve box.

I can personally recommend Rebecca's products having been ordering from her myself for the past few years, in fact we still use our countdown plaque she made us. Her Christmas Eve Boxes are very sought after so if your thinking about ordering don't think for too long or she might sell out!

If I was to make my own box, I would use this one from Hobbycraft. For more ideas take a look on the Hobbycraft website or on Pinterest there are so many ideas. Remember to share your creations with me!

What to put in your Christmas Eve Box

The list of what can go in is endless & completely your choice. The most common items are christmas pyjamas, a movie & a treat (popcorn, sweets etc). You could also put in a christmas book, reindeer food, snowman soup, a plate for Santa's treats, activity/puzzle book, a key for Santa if you have no chimney, a gift from your Elf (if you partake in Elf on the Shelf, we do that too! Although thats a new tradition!) or a nice certificate from Santa himself. As you can see the options are endless. Here's a few of my favourite items I've seen this year.

Christmas Pj's

There are so many options when it comes to Christmas Pj's so I've picked my favourites for babies, little kids & bigger kids/teens.

I am currently reading The Christmasaurus to Freya each evening before bed, we're 4 chapters in & loving it so far.

Snowman Soup

This is a quick & easy make up that the kids will love! You simply place a sachet of hot chocolate, mini marshmallows & a candy cane in a little bag, pot, bottle (Pinterest has some great ideas) whichever you fancy & attach a tag saying 'Snowman Soup' or this little poem...

Be sure to share all your christmas eve boxes, whether you make them yourselves or buy a personalised one. Please share ideas & recommendations in the comments to help others complete their box.

I look forward to seeing them all.
