HOW IT WORKS

Cake Smashes are one of my favourite sessions to shoot, not only are they fun but they include cake! I ask you what could be better 😉

As anyone thats had a cake smash with me will tell you I adore them, you may not find me in my best attire when you come in but all that means is that I can get dirty too!! Our cake smashes are totally unique & individual, I will work my hardest to design you a set that hasn’t been used before based on what you want.

All of our cake smashes start the same way with a mini portrait session first. Many will bring a separate outfit for their little one usually their party/birthday outfit. The reason we do their portraits is so you have a wonderful memory of them not covered in cake 😉 on their first birthday.

Once we have some lovely shots of them looking all fresh & clean we get them changed (if you brought two outfits) & the mega fun begins…. smashing cake!!!

When the cake smashing is over we will pop your little one into one of our diddy bath tubs & capture some amazing images of them splashing about & getting rid of the stickiness.
(Please note not all the little ones like the tub so if they don’t want to go in thats fine we have plenty of wipes on hand to wipe them over for their journey home.)

What can I say, I can’t thank Ashleigh enough for the amazing photoshoot for my son’s first birthday, a monster cake smash theme. It was so funny and my son Liam enjoyed it very much. He loved playing with Ashleigh and she created the perfect setting for him. She captured Liam’s expression so well and all his pictures are just stunning.

We get asked a lot of questions about our newborn sessions & you’ll find the answer to our most asked questions here, if you don’t see your question please don’t hesitate to ask.
Frequently asked questions;
How long will the session take?
Cake smash sessions take around an hour sometimes an hour & a half if you’re little one isn’t keen on new people. I have had some get so excited smashing & splashing that we’ve been done in 40 minutes!! It’s literally all down to how they feel on the day.
When is the best time to book my session?
The ideal time to book in your little ones cake smash is 6-8 weeks prior to their first birthday so that you have the images back in time for their celebrations. If however you would like the session on their actual birthday thats fine too! Please book in advance as we fill up quick for Cake Smashes.
Is there anything I need to bring?
Yes, please bring an outift for your little ones portrait part of their session, most bring a special outfit thats to be worn on their birthday. You’l also need to bring along an outfit for them to do their smash in, we do have a selection at the studio so speak to us once you’ve chosen your theme to see of we have someting suitable. Lastly a towel for when they’re done splashing!! Also some bubble bath if your little one has allergies, we have the lavendar johnsons at the studio.
