Planning Your Christmas Activities in Orpington

Around this time of year, we start to see lots of information about all of the Christmas activities there are for families in [location].  Whilst we are thinking about school holidays, halloween and bonfire night, we can be tempted to push Christmas activities to the bottom of the list.

However, lots of the best activities get booked up well in advance so it makes sense to start your planning now.  Making a plan in advance allows you to budget properly and make sure you don’t miss anything that you love to do over the festive season.

Here is a handy list of all of the things you might want to do and maybe some you hadn’t even thought of!

Santa Visits

The most popular Santa visits sell out very quickly.  In Orpington the most popular Santa visits are in without a doubt Ruxley Manor, there are of course others around but this is the most popular for not only the big guy but the experience too.

You’ll need to check when the bookings for visiting Santa open, make a note in your diary so you don’t miss the best dates and times to suit you.

Breakfast With Santa

This isn't something we've personally done. However I have heard great things about breakfast with Santa. The most local one to Orpington is at the Black Horse, in Locksbottom. I'm told it sells out rather quickly so if you want to give it a try book early.

Santa Train/Polar Express

Santa Train experiences are so much fun. As you can imagine these sell out super fast for popular dates and times. Later in the day is definitely the best time to go as when it’s dark outside, it only adds to the special atmosphere.

In Kent we have a couple of options for Santa Trains;

You have the Spa Valley Polar Express experience, as well as the Santa Specials with the Kent and East Sussex railway. They both book up extremely fast so if you miss out be sure to join their mailing list for 2023 so you get priority!

Pantomime

This year local to Orpington we are lucky enough to have pantomimes in both the Churchill Theatre in Bromley and the Orchard Theatre in Dartford.

Aladdin is on in Bromley, all the way through December. You can check out tickets and show times here.

The Orchard in Dartford has Cinderella showing this year, it's showing from the 10th - 31st December. To book and see the showing times follow this link.

Christmas Mini Sessions

As always I also have my Christmas Mini sessions available to book. This year, like last, I have broken from the 'norm' of Christmas sessions done by many and have gone for a unique set up again. We have balloons again this year, but have gone for elegance and glam with emerald green and gold to really bring those Christmassy vibes. To get one of our last available sessions this coming weekend, 18th-19th November click here!
